The Taxpayers

DIY heroes. CASES IN POINT: These guys started in a North Portland former meth lab house because the house needed a band to play a benefit for the newly emerging Food Not Bombs in the area. Rob Taxpayer later got a job at Kinko's in order to release their first album (they printed all the materials for the album "after hours", "borrowed" CD-R's and stamps). Nate Taxpayer began studying, on his own, to become a nurse, and preparing his house for the impending "Zombie Apocalypse" (his words, I believe, for "The Revolution"). The house is now an enormous garden, complete with rescued dogs and chickens. Noah Taxpayer began his own video production company in order to document the awesomeness of the punk scene surrounding him.

The music isn't so bad, either. Urgent, poetic, and always relevant punk rock that doesn't sound like any type of punk rock you've ever heard.

"I truly believe these guys are reaching out beyond themselves to live a life of freedom and punk rock" -Saffron, PC-PDX

"Portland trio the Taxpayers has a group of friends/fans that sings along to nearly every word of every song in the band's repertoire, and it's not hard to see why...It'll take hearts and guitars to spark a revolution in this country—lord knows the other side has the cynicism and guns markets pretty much cornered. So I'm voting Taxpayers in '08" - Casey Jarman, Willammette Week

"All around, an equation that equals awesome." - Bryan Static, Razorcake
